Coffee Rose Undereye Serum
This recipe is taken from the Herbal Academy’s Botanical Skincare Recipe Book. I enjoy taking herbalism classes online whenever I have time and have found this accompanying book to be a stalwart guide of natural skincare formulation.
Coffee Rose Undereye Serum is wonderful for all skin types and especially helpful for mature skin that needs a little extra moisture and love.
Coffee is used in this recipe because it is thought to stimulate blood flow which reduces puffiness around the undereye and tightens skin. Rose is used in skincare for many reasons, including that it contains antioxidants that may protect and help regenerate skin cell production. Rose also contains vitamin C that may help with skin cell damage and lessen premature aging. Sweet Almond Oil is a gentle carrier oil that is deeply moisturizing.
Tools:
Measuring cups + Spoons
Bowl
Jar for infusion
Optional: Roller Ball Oil Dispenser
Ingredients:
2 T coarsely ground coffee beans
1 T rose petals (dried or fresh)
4 T sweet almond oil
2 T rosehip seed oil
Instructions:
NOTE: This serum is made from an infused oil. You can infuse oil quickly with heat or you can infuse slowly. I choose to infuse oils slowly.
Add rose petals, coffee grounds and sweet almond oil to your jar. Apply the lid, shake it up, and place on the shelf for a month. Yep, a month. Maybe even more. The longer you let the infusion sit, the stronger your infusion will be. Give that jar a shake every day or as often as you remember to do so.
Once infusion is ready, place cheese cloth over the top of your jar and strain the oil. After straining, add the rosehip seed oil. You can then put the oil into dropper or roller ball applicators, or just store in a jar.
To use the serum, gently dab a few drops on your undereye skin each morning, before bed, or whenever you moisturize your face.
Always use a small amount of any product when it is new to you and discontinue using it if your skin shows any irritation.
Y’all be careful and I’ll holler at ya later.
